If there is one saying Beyoncé is acutely aware of, it’s “a picture is worth a thousand words.”
Over the past few months, the singer has battled rumor after rumor that her marriage to Jay Z is on the rocks – even as they continue their joint On the Run tour. The latest report: that she was seen apartment-shopping by herself.
But instead of releasing a statement declaring that marital strife is tabloid fiction, she took to a tried-and-true medium: Instagram.
On Tuesday – hours after the apartment-hunting story made the rounds on the Internet – she posted a sweet photo of Jay Z and their daughter Blue Ivy on the beach. “My favorite hue is Jay Z Blue,” read the caption.
This is not the first time Beyoncé has used the social media platform to offer a glimpse of her personal life amid a sea of speculation. Here are some other instances when her posts seemingly fired back at the rumors:
Headline: Solange Knowles Attacks Jay Z in an Elevator
Surveillance footage from The Standard hotel showed Beyoncé’s younger sister Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator after the three attended a Met Gala afterparty on May 5. The incident prompted speculation over the reason behind the incident and what it said about Jay Z and Beyoncé’s relationship.
On May 12, just hours after the elevator footage leaked online, the couple was photographed smiling at a Brooklyn Nets game. And two days after that Beyoncé posted a slew of happy photos of herself with Solange, including the ones below.
Finally, on May 15, Beyoncé, Jay Z and Solange released a joint statement about the incident, saying that the family had moved on.
“We love each other and above all we are family,” read the statement. “We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
Headline: Beyoncé Changes Lyrics to Song, Sparking Jay Z Cheating Rumors
At the couple’s June 28 concert in Cincinnati, Beyoncé tweaked the lyrics to her 2006 single “Resentment,” fueling rumors that Jay Z had cheated on her.
Decked out in a wedding gown, the singer made a number of notable changes to the song, including switching the line “Been ridin’ with you for six years” to “Been ridin’ with you for 12 years” – which many fans interpreted as a reference to her relationship with the rapper.
