Gary Oldman’s recent Playboy interview – in which he defended Mel Gibson’s anti-Semitic remarks and delivered some offensive comments of his own – has been in the news, resulting in his apparent whirlwind apology tour, now taking place.

Wednesday, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he told the told the show’s host, “I said some things that were poorly considered. From my heart, I am profoundly sorry.”

Tuesday, Oldman also apologized for his comments – which also included a defense of Alec Baldwin’s use of homophobic language – to the Anti-Defamation League, which derided his apology as “insufficient and not satisfactory.”

Oldman’s interview was part of his press junket to promote his newest film, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which hits theaters July 11.

Whether Oldman’s apologies for what he said to Playboy are enough to appease his critics remains to be seen.
