In 2013, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament admitted that the group was “the ultimate dad band.”

In 2014, Pearl Jam held true to that self-appointed title, and then some.

At a concert in Milan Friday night, the grunge veterans unleashed a surprising cover: “Let It Go,” the beloved Disney ballad that’s become the unofficial anthem of America’s tween-girl set. And much like the heroic firefighters of Massachusetts, it turns out the rockers know all the words.

Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder has two daughters, 10-year-old Olivia and 5-year-old Harper, and, given that the band launched into “Let It Go” in the middle of “Daughter,” it appears Vedder intended the performance as a present for his girls.
