The Real Housewives of New York City celebrated the Fourth of July on Tuesday night’s episode, and – of course – there were plenty of fireworks.
The biggest sparks, however, turned out to be the biggest surprise, as BFFs Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan got into a heated exchange at a Hamptons holiday party Singer hosted.
After the two had earlier discussed Morgan’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy and her mounting concerns she might lose her home, the talk turned tense while testing Singer’s newest wine.
“It has a little burn to it,” said Morgan as she sipped.
“I don’t taste any burn,” said Singer, “and I have a pretty good palate.”
That’s when the wine turned to whine.
“I heard it was a little raunchy,” Singer said of the caburlesque show she missed that Morgan hosted for the LGBT center in the Hamptons.
“I was playing a part,” said Morgan. “Seinfeld gets raunchy.”
“You’re not a comedian.”
“But you’re not a Broadway star,” said Singer, who then expressed concern that Morgan was juggling too many different projects and was “in over her head.”
“I’ve always had my hands in too many pots,” said Morgan, before exploding at Singer. “I’d like to see you support a five-floor townhouse as a single mom That’s just really a low blow you’re not a friend I want to be around.”
Continued Morgan: “You couldn’t handle a day in my life, Singer. Not one day. You would fall apart. You don’t have a lawsuit, a divorce, a custody battle, you’re not a single mother … You don t know overwhelmed.”
Eventually, the two made amends. Sort of.
“I love you, Sonja. You’re like a sister to me,” said Singer, before adding later, “Sonja likes to think everything’s perfect in Lady Morgan’s house. Well, Lady Morgan’s house is crumbling.”
There was at least one happy ending, though, as Heather Thomson received good news about her son Jax, who was born with a chronic and rare liver disease and needed a transplant to survive, and has also battled severe allergies and lung problems.
“If we can fix one thing just one thing,” she said regarding her son’s conductive hearing loss while crying on the beach as Jax played in the sand and Carole Radziwill held her.
“I definitely try to stay strong for Jax,” Thomson said earlier, before receiving a call from her doctor saying her son was eligible for surgery that could eliminate his need to wear hearing aids. “He’s never seen me cry over his challenges.”
“She’s an amazing parent,” said Radziwill. “So positive and upbeat.”
