You may remember the brief period when the Internet busied itself giving Hollywood’s most beautiful women Steve Buscemi eyes. With those monstrosities in mind, you might imagine that putting Zooey Deschanel’s sparkling peepers on famous men would yield the opposite effect.

Nope, still monstrous.

Without fail, Kanye West, Hulk Hogan, Jon Hamm, Guy Fieri and more each become more intense and unsettling once Zooeyed. (The less said about the Zooeyed version of Bob Ross, the better.)

We have two takeaways here. For one, we’ve all gotten used to how these memes-of-the-moment work. Since the posting of the first victim, “Nick, on May 20, this Tumblr blog has exploded in popularity to the point that Deschanel herself has already given her blessing to the rampant misappropriation of her baby blues.

The other lesson here is that we should apparently be thankful that Zooey Deschanel’s eyes only regularly exist on Zooey Deschanel’s face, because they’re unnerving in just about any other context. Maybe they’re somehow balanced out by the bangs? Maybe they’re a tremendous power only she can control?

And if this doesn’t provide you enough celebrity eye fun, know that the Downton Abbey-inspired Edith With Googly Eyes is still alive and kicking.
