Caterack, the kitty who kept owner Alisa Morris company the past 30 years, died on Thursday. Morris,
who shared her beloved cat's story with PEOPLEPets.com last month, said her pet — who may have been among the world's oldest living cats — had been experiencing kidney problems and had gotten very frail.
"I drove her to the vet wrapped in a towel," Morris told PEOPLEPets.com in an email. "She purred when they prepped her and she went so peacefully."
In her last days, Morris of Midlothian, Texas, had switched Caterack to wet food because the cat was having trouble chewing. "I've had to go to the little package stuff that's wet," Morris had said earlier. "That's the only thing that she can get down."
The oldest cat ever recorded was a 38-year-old feline named Creme Puff, according to a rep from
Guinness World Records. That cat died in 2005.
Morris had been readying herself to say goodbye to her daily companion of three decades, the one who helped her through a divorce and who was there to watch her two children grow up. "I told Caterack that she and I would be together again and she is in my heart, always."
Leave your condolences for the amazing feline and her family below in our comments.

I lost my 21 yr old cat 3 years ago and still miss her sweet soul. I was given this beautiful anonymous document and want to share it with everyone. It's called The Rainbow Bridge: "There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called The Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food, water and warm spring weather. The old and the frail are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing...they are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group! You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated." I hope this can give you some comfort in your time of grief.

You are hearing this from so many, but each of us means what we say...I am so sorry for your loss. I know Caterack's absence will leave a hole in your heart; but, as time passes, you'll be able to fill that hole with the warmth and smiles that your memories of Caterack will bring to you. I know this, because I, too, have suffered these losses in the past. You are so lucky to have shared in her life.

Alisa, I am so so sorry to hear of Caterack's passing. She was a wonderful "furry daughter" to you, and "furry sibling" to your kids. A cherished family member to say the least. Your many memories of Caterack will confort you in this time of pain. She's in Kitty Heaven now, over the Rainbow Bridge, playing with all her kitty friends, including my K.T., who was put down at 15 1/2 4 years ago......

So sad! We are sorry for your loss! What a wonderfully long life Caterack lived! My oldest was Minka; she lived 23 years, followed by Pumpkin who lived 21 years and Mario who lived 19 years. They are all waiting for us on the rainbow bridge with your dear Caterack. Hugs from Paula, Harry, Belly and mommy Jan.

Hello, Alisa,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. You and Caterack have had quite a lot of wonderful times over the years, and it's for sure that you and Caterack will be together again. With the Lord's help, you'll get through life one day at a time, and to realize that Caterack is in Heaven. God bless you, your family and Caterack. The many memories of the times you and Caterack have had will be yours to treasure forever.
Peace,
-Matt
