Beth Ostrosky Stern: Making Pets in Need Her Mission

Model Beth Ostrosky Stern loves her bulldog Bianca so much, she once jumped in a pool — Manolos and all! — to save her pup from drowning. It's just one of the ways she shown herself to be an animal lover — and an important voice for furry creatures everywhere. As spokeswoman for the North Shore Animal League, she's constantly out promoting her cause and raising funds for pets in need. In fact, Ostrosky Stern and her team raised $300,000 for the no-kill shelter during last year's New York City Marathon.

As the wife of radio king Howard Stern, she's using her famous husband's media pull to bring focus to the issues that matter most to her. "It seemed silly to me I was getting all this recognition and attention for being with Howard. So I thought, 'I have this platform, what can I do with it?' " Ostrosky Stern told digital magazine VIVmag in its July-August issue. "Let’s put forth my passion of animal rescue.”

The animal lover appears in the publication alongside Bianca — the other love of her life! Described as "queen of the house," Bianca is a high-maintenance pup who took part in the Ostrosky Stern wedding last October in New York.

Using everything she’s learned from caring for Bianca, Ostrosky Stern is working on a fun how-to guide about raising pooches. “It's a big, chunky book of everything you need to know about bringing a dog into your world,” she says.
