Singer Scott MacIntyre was deemed a "top dawg" by American Idol judge Randy Jackson, and now, the legally blind 23-year-old is getting a top dog of his own. During a Guide Dogs of America graduation ceremony Friday, Idol judge Paula Abdul told MacIntyre he'll receive a guide dog of his own later this year. The season 8 finalist didn't realize he was going to be a recipient at the event -- in fact, he was told he was invited to perform. But a teary-eyed Abdul surprised both MacIntyre and the crowd when she shared that he'd receive his pup after the Idol tour wraps in the fall.

Abdul hosted a similar ceremony last month, at which she gave seven American military veterans newly trained guide dogs. The Idol judge, along with Natural Balance Pet Foods, PETCO and independent pet stores throughout the U.S., is helping to raise $2 million throughout May in honor of National Guide Dog Month. Visit PETCO to pick up specially marked bags of Natural Balance dog food -- the proceeds of which will go to the charity -- or "round up" your purchase at the checkout counter to donate the difference to the cause.
