Adopt Me! Princess Needs Her Knight in Shining Armor

For every pet living with a happy family, there is an animal in a shelter waiting to find a loving home. So today, we'd like you to meet Princess, a sweet cat with silly diva-like tendencies living at the Animal Protective League of Cleveland, Ohio.

Princess came to the APL in April 2009, after her family moved away. Referred to as a "private investigator," the 4 1/2-year-old "keeps an eye on the household," APL director of operations Ayse Dunlap tells PEOPLEPets.com. "If you need a cat who knows how to stay out of trouble and will always keep your secrets," then she's your girl, says Dunlap. "She's a sweet cat who would prefer to be an only child, as opposed to sharing her family's attention with other cats or dogs." She spends her days at the shelter patiently waiting for that fateful forever home.

Founded in 1913, the APL is a private nonprofit supported purely through donations. The organization accepts every animal in need — regardless of past abuse, neglect or health status — and helps prepare potential pets for adoption through their unique Second Chance training program. Last year, more than 5,500 animals found families thanks to the shelter's outreach.

As with any animal organization, the Cleveland Animal Protective League is always in need of donations and volunteers, so visit their Web site to learn how you can help!
