He was just named producer of the year at Sunday’s Grammy Awards but Mark Ronson recently earned another major designation – his American citizenship.
“I actually just got my American citizenship,” Ronson, who was born in London but lived in New York, told PEOPLE at Microsoft Zune’s Grammy party in Hollywood. “I wanted to be able to vote in this election – that’s why I got it.”
The mastermind behind Amy Winehouse’s Grammy-winning album Back to Black, Ronson plans to reunite with Winehouse. “We’re going to work on a record together sometime this year,” he said. As for his Grammy honors, he adds that he’s still a little bit in shock. “I never thought I’d be nominated. I’m always deejay-ing someone else’s Grammy party. I’m always the bridesmaid.”
