In her new book, the heroine of her story is 19-year-old Jane Roberts, who moves to Hollywood and ends up the star of her own reality show. Sound familiar? Art imitates life for The Hills star’s story but she says it’s all fictional. “Some of the characters may symbolize people in my life,” Conrad said, “but it is in no way calling anyone out.”
Just like her real life, Conrad’s Jane deals with the drama of relationships with a guy named Paolo.
From the book: Paolo smiled at her. He had the cutest smile. “Hey, this may be a little forward, but … could I call you sometime? Maybe we could go out for coffee or something? I just moved here from San Francisco, and I don’t know too many people in town.”
Jane was taken aback by his boldness. They had met all of 60 seconds ago. Still, he did kinda look like a young Brad Pitt. Besides, when was the last time she’d been on a date? “Sure,” she said.
Jane blinked. Oh, yeah. The cameras were still rolling. Paolo was being filmed. But he didn’t seem fazed by it.
L.A. Candy hits stores June 16, and is the first in a three-book deal.
