Talk about a showstopper – except the show still went on.
During the elaborate opening number to last Sunday night’s Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, Rock of Love VH1 reality star Bret Michaels – who hit the Great Stage of America’s Showplace with his band Poison along with the cast of Broadway’s nominated best-musical Rock of Ages – fell down after being hit by a piece of scenery following his performance of Poison’s hit “Nothin’ But a Good Time.”
Knocked to the ground, Michaels, 46, fractured his nose. The singer’s injuries also required three stitches in his lip. On Thursday Michaels posted photos of the injuries on his MySpace Celebrity blog.
A publicist on Sunday told PEOPLE that Michaels was hoping to hit some Tonys after-parties but was “getting X-rays.” Calling him “a trooper,” she added that the singer “had a blast performing.”
For the record, despite all the blood that went into it, Rock of Ages didn’t snag the Tony for best musical. Billy Elliot did.
