The eldest daughter of Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton was indicted Wednesday on several charges – including first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter – in connection with the October 2008 death of a 1-year-old girl she was baby sitting in central Florida
Amanda Brumfield, 29, was booked at the Orange County Jail, where she is being held without bail, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
At the time of her arrest earlier this month, Brumfield informed detectives that a girl she was babysitting hit her head in a fall in an Ocoee home on Oct. 3, according to Detective James Berish. Brumfield called for help more than two hours later after being unable to revive the child, said police.
An autopsy revealed a fractured skull and brain injury, leading the medical examiner to rule the death a homicide. Police said Brumfield’s explanation was inconsistent with the child’s injuries.
When Brumfield was arrested, a publicist for Thornton told CNN that the actor, 53, and his daughter are estranged, “and [he] has had no contact with her for quite some time.”
