It’s no joke, Sarah Silverman still believes in love after the end of her Jimmy Kimmel romance.
“I’d like to find that person,” the comedian, 39, tells Playboy in a new interview. “I think Jimmy and I had every intention of spending the rest of our lives with each other. I love love. It’s my top priority. Jimmy will tell you. I’m a good girl.”
Silverman, who is now dating Alec Sulkin, a writer for FOX’s Family Guy, says she and Kimmel gave it their best shot in their two stints together between 2002 and 2009.
“We were together for so long and tried our best to make it work,” she says. “I can think of him now and don’t have that edgy feeling anymore. I just love him to pieces.”
She adds: “Sometimes loving each other isn’t enough. You have to be responsible for your own happiness. You can’t stay in a relationship because you’re afraid of the unknown. But I will always love him. Sometimes I think maybe we’ll die together in our old age or something.”
It was happiness and a sense of humor that drew Silverman and Sulkin together. They were acquainted through comedy circles over the years, but Silverman became attracted while following him on Twitter. “I wrote him a note that said, ‘You’re funny,’ ” she says. “When we finally met, he came over to my place, walked in the door, put out his hand and said, ‘Hi, I’m Alec.’ We’ve spent every day together since.”
