There’s light at the end of the scary tunnel: A new studio has stepped in and set a release date for a horror thriller starring Katie Holmes that had been shelved last year when its original studio, Miramax, was sold by Disney.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, directed by Pan’s Labyrinth auteur Guillermo del Toro, will hit theaters Aug. 12 after the U.S. rights were picked up by FilmDistrict, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The movie stars Holmes and Guy Pearce – who played Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor, in The King’s Speech – as a couple who are renovating a 19th-century home that turns out to have strange creatures living in the basement. Holmes comes to the aid of Pearce’s daughter, who discovers the demonic forces.
