The New Orleans Pelicans forward was the one who found the former Bachelor star, 29, in her apartment on Aug. 12, after she hanged herself, and the Times-Picayune reports that his grief was evident as he was interviewed Monday at a team media day.
“Every day is a challenge,” he says. “It helps to be here. My family’s with me. To be here with my teammates really helps a lot, but it’s a roller-coaster.”
Anderson performed CPR on his unconscious girlfriend before she was transported to hospital and placed on life support. She passed away two days later.
“Something like that just doesn’t happen for no reason. And I know that … there’s … a huge plan here …,” he said as he lost his composure and teared up.
Anderson explained that he’s working on creating a foundation in Allemand’s memory to help others battling depression and personal issues.
