Corbin Bleu is a former High School Musical star who is competing on season 17 of Dancing with the Stars with season 13 champion Karina Smirnoff. The Disney alum will blog for PEOPLE about his experience on ABC’s hit show.
This week, we are focusing on making sure all of the elements of traditional cha-cha are in the dance.
We’re also focusing on the technique, my form and giving the judges no room to dock our points for lifts or for not having all of the pieces of the cha-cha in the dance.
Besides how well we execute it, I want to make sure the emotion is there and that my form and technique are on and I don’t mess up any parts of the dance.
Having had a taste of getting a 10 in the previous week, we want to try to switch up our game this week and really retrieve ourselves from last week.
That’s the thing – once you finish the dance and you get the judges’ comments. you sit there and you think maybe there was something I didn’t realize I was doing. But then Karina and I went back and watched last week’s dance, and I was listening to Karina’s comments about it, and she was saying, ‘Your back is open and your lines are straight.’ So I don’t know what the judges were talking about, but it happens.
