Jennifer Lawrence and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire may be burning up the box office, but a new video shows there is a startlingly long way to go before women receive fair representation in the media.

The people behind the film Miss Representation have put together a clip highlighting the highs and lows of women’s presence in the media this year. 2013 saw Malala Yousafzai's brave battle and Orange is the New Black’s realistic depiction of a women’s prison, but these triumphs were overwhelmed by the same, sad truths. In the media, sex still sells and powerful females continue to be seen through the lens of gender stereotypes and wardrobe choices.

Taking in all these examples in three minutes can feel defeating, but the fact that this video continues its viral climb shows that we are in a culture that is capable and ready for change.
