The actress lives with her husband of one year, businessman Ned Rocknroll, about an hour outside of London in the small village of Elsted, West Sussex. And she’s often seen around town making school runs with her kids – daughter Mia, 13, and son Joe, 9, from her previous marriages – and visiting shops.
“Kate is just part of the community like anyone else. She is always running around,” says a local source. “Everyone leaves her alone to lead her life in peace.”
Her most recent shopping trips, in Kings Road, Chelsea, on Nov. 27, and at the Chichester branch of House of Fraser on Dec. 2. followed some quality time with family and friends.
On Nov. 14, Winslet met up with Richard Branson’s mother, whom she helped rescue from a fire in 2011, at The Old House at Home in Chichester. “Kate seemed happy, smiling and well,” says a fellow diner. “She was just chatting to Richard’s mother and having a nice lunch.”
The next day, Winslet and Rocknroll joined some friends for an evening performance of the Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre, London. “She was glowing and really in great spirits,” says a theatergoer. “She said with being so close to her due date she fancied a night out and a giggle.”
After the show, Winslet went backstage and met the cast, then walked back to the Covent Garden hotel with Rocknroll. “She seemed really excited,” the theatergoer adds. “And very happy.”
