Alison Sweeney’s Biggest Loser Blog: ‘New Health Regimes Are a Great Way to Start the Year’

Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a great holiday! I was able to take time off to be with my family and we had a blast skiing and snowboarding. Then I rang in 2014 by riding with the Medieval Times horses in the Tournament of Roses Parade. What a fun way to celebrate the New Year!

It seems like everyone is joining up with the Biggest Loser contestants at the start of 2014 – new health regimes are a great way to start the year right. But the contestants never take a holiday from their continuing quest for health. We are now back to finish their journeys with them. Watching the recap of the season so far once again made me so proud to be part of such a rewarding show.

When we left off in December, I’d just brought the eliminated contestants back to the weigh-in room – and now one player was going to earn a spot back on the Ranch.

The weigh-in was incredibly intense but there was so much to celebrate with all the weight each contestant lost since leaving campus. It was great to celebrate their accomplishments as a group and to check in prior to the live finale in one month. In the end, Bobby regained a spot in the house and the competition was back on.

Speaking of competition, the day at the beach for the week’s challenge was brutal. It was such a hot day and such a steep hill that the contestants had to climb over and over to finish. Jay definitely got off to a strong start, set the pace and earned the victory. In the end, Tanya and Bobby really had to fight to not finish last. Bobby prevailed and Tanya was given a one-lb. penalty for the weigh-in.

We started the weigh-in by welcoming Tanya to “one-derland,” which is always a huge celebration for the contestants. Then Bobby got on the scale and celebrated having lost more than 100 lbs. since starting on the show. David continued the momentum with a 12-lb. weight loss for the second week in a row. Chelsea celebrated a 6-lb. weight loss. Rachel joined the celebration by losing 99 lbs. since starting on the Ranch and she received high praise from Jillian.
