How’s this for putting other busy working couples to shame?
An insider tells PEOPLE that the couple spent the weekend before their March 15 wedding penning the sentimental notes.
“It was a sweatshop of letter-writing,” the insider joked, explaining how bride and groom alternated duties: If Guthrie wrote the letter, Feldman added a postscript. And vice-versa.
The letters were accompanied by monogrammed, leather luggage tags – a nod to the frequent-flier miles that Guthrie and Feldman, a high-powered political and communications strategist, collect in their respective careers.
Today co-anchor Matt Lauer, who attended the nuptials in the Arizona desert, says sentimentality was a hallmark of the entire affair. Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, read her daughter’s favorite Psalm, while the bride’s sister, Annie Guthrie, recited a poem she penned for the occasion.
“It all had a very personal feel to it,” Lauer tells PEOPLE, “a lot of wonderful moments.”
