Bryant Gumbel’s pretrial session in the divorce case against his wife June took place at New York’s Westchester County Courthouse on Thursday. One issue was when to set the next court date. State Supreme Court Justice John LaCava picked the second week of March, then said to Gumbel, who hosts CBS’s “The Early Show”: “You’re busy in the morning?” “Just until 9 a.m.,” Gumbel replied, smiling. The next hearing was slated for March 9, at 2:30 p.m. June Gumbel’s attorney, Barry Slotnick, said the TV host has just begun paying court-ordered “emergency relief” to June, his wife of 26 years. (The couple split in 1997.) Bryant’s outlay is $4,000 a month. June had taken her case to the press and said that she was trying to survive on the $250 a month that Bryant was eking out to her and their two children, ages 16 and 21. Bryant Gumbel has refused to comment on the case.
