LeBlanc's Joey to Be Back for More

RENEWED: NBC announced Thursday it has given the go-ahead to produce at least nine more episodes of Joey, the Friends spin-off starring Matt LeBlanc, making it the first new sitcom in prime time to receive a full-season order. Joey, which costars The Sopranos Emmy winner Drea de Matteo, has averaged 16.4 million viewers overall in its first three episodes and ranks as the top-rated new comedy so far this season among NBC’s target audience of adults aged 18 to 49.

5 Things You Gotta Know About Drea de Matteo

1. She likes hitting the road: Fancy jets? First class? Nah, that’s not de Matteo’s style. In July, when the actress moved from New York to Los Angeles, where she’s filming Friends spin-off Joey, she opted for a road trip in an RV. Her traveling companions: her parents (Al, a sofa-bed manufacturer, and Donna, a playwright), her musician boyfriend, Shooter Jennings (son of late country legend Waylon), and her two pooches (Charlie, a bulldog, and Cyrus, a Great Dane).

Matt LeBlanc

He’s still the same old Friend, but Matt LeBlanc, 37, is running with a new crowd this fall. “Change can be good,” says the actor, whose spinoff Joey drops him in L.A. with supporting players Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos) and Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde) as his sister and agent, respectively. LeBlanc recently talked about adjusting to solo sitcom life, and how he’s handled another new addition: his 7-month-old, Marina.

Matt LeBlanc to Get New Joey Costar

All is not running smoothly in Joey Tribbiani’s new neighborhood, after all.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, despite the strong word of mouth following a private press preview last month of the premiere episode of the Friends spinoff Joey, the new NBC sitcom is undergoing some major fixes prior to its debut this fall.

Gone will be actress Ashley Scott, who played the Matt LeBlanc character’s sexy new neighbor in Los Angeles.
