Rose McGowan Says 'There's a Lot of Grossness' in Hollywood After Blasting Casting Call as Sexist

Rose McGowan says she wants to make Hollywood better for women after being fired by her agent, allegedly for sounding off about a sexist casting note.

“I’m interested in making the industry better so that women following in my footsteps know that they don’t have to take abuse just because she wants be creative,” the actress told PEOPLE on Thursday in New York City.

It looks like Rose McGowan is seeking new representation.

The former Charmed actress says she was fired by her agent after she publicly slammed a casting call as sexist. She later said that the audition was for a project starring an actor whose name “rhymes with Madam Panhandler,” spurring online speculation that she was referring to Adam Sandler.

Rose McGowan took to Twitter Wednesday to laugh at a casting note she received with a questionable set of instructions for the audition.

The actress-director, 41, shared a screen grab of the note, which advised those reading for the female role to show off cleavage and wear tight clothing. And she wasn’t shy about hinting at the male actor involved in the film, though she put a creative spin on the shout-out.
