Black Eyed Peas Offer 'Moral Support' to Bandmate after Family Tragedy

With bandmate still reeling from the murder of his half-brother, Joven Pineda Deala, 21, in the Philippines on Tuesday, the Black Eyed Peas are rallying around him.

“[We’re] being there for him, just being his brother – Fergie, she’s not his brother but a sister – and guiding him emotionally,” said Thursday night at the 5th Annual Black Eyed Peas Peapod Foundation Benefit Concert Presented by Adobe Youth Voices in L.A.

Brother of Black Eyed Peas' Is Murdered

The half-brother of musician, one of the creative forces behind the hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas, was murdered in the Philippines on Tuesday. Joven Pineda Deala was 21.

According to the local newspaper, the Philippines Daily Inquirer, Deala was parked in front of his girlfriend’s house outside of the Angeles City in the Pampanga province of the Philippines early Tuesday morning when he was shot in close range in the temple. He was declared dead by medical officials a little more than an hour later.
