Axl Rose Declines Induction Into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Guns N’ Roses fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a reunion of the original band members at this weekend’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.

In an open letter released Wednesday the group’s frontman Axl Rose says he doesn’t plan to attend the ceremony in Cleveland and “I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.”

Referring to the band’s falling out in 1996, Rose, 50, says having the group inducted would be “somewhat of a complicated or awkward situation.”

A source tells PEOPLE that Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has been serving jury duty on a civil trial in Santa Monica, Calif.

The rocker’s rep confirms that Rose, 49, indeed has been performing his civic duty – having completed jury duty service on Tuesday “after serving four days of the trial process,” says his rep.

Axl Rose Out of Jail After Allegedly Biting Guard

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose was released from a Stockholm jail Tuesday after being arrested for allegedly biting a security guard in the leg outside his hotel, the Associated Press reports.

Rose was held on suspicion of attacking and threatening the guard, as well as causing damage to the Berns Hotel where the alleged dust-up took place around 8 a.m., police spokesperson Towe Hagg told the AP.

Guns N’ Roses made a rare concert appearance Sunday night in Las Vegas, but former member Slash was shut out of it, reports ABCNEWS.com. The sold-out concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was only the second U.S. gig that Guns have performed in eight years. Former guitarist Slash was in the gaming capitol for the show, but only got as far as the door. Speaking briefly with ABCNEWS Radio, Slash claimed that he tried to gain entry, but couldn’t. A security guard confirmed his account, crediting band frontman Axl Rose for the exclusion.
