Alongside guests Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, stars of the new movie Ride Along, Conan O’Brien set out to share a drive with an unsuspecting stranger thanks to the mobile app Lyft, which allows users to signal for a driver to pick them up.

Emily Kraus was on her way to a Dave Matthews concert in Hershey, Pa., on Saturday, when she saw someone stranded on the side of the road with a popped bicycle tire.

Imagine her surprise when the rider was revealed to be none other than Dave Matthews himself! She decided to offer him a ride.

“I did not have a cell phone on the bicycle. So I thought, ‘S––,’ ” Matthews, 46, recalled that night at his show at Hersheypark Stadium. “And then a nice lady named Emily rode up in a red car with a bicycle rack on it and gave me a ride on to the gig.”

Dave Matthews will join country’s biggest names at this year’s CMA Awards, delivering a duet with Kenny Chesney and adding another rock presence to the ceremony’s lineup. Longtime friends Julia Roberts and Dave Matthews joined forces Wednesday night at the sold-out Stand Up For a Cure concert at Madison Square Garden to benefit lung cancer research.

The singer – who said he was just 10 years old when his father died of lung cancer – movingly told the audience, “One day, we hopefully won’t need to have events like this.”

Julia Roberts and her pal Dave Matthews are teaming up again.

Roberts – who joked to PEOPLE in 2005 that she is the Dave Matthews Band’s “mascot” – will introduce the group when it performs at the Stand Up for a Cure 2008 Concert Series at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 10.

“The charity is honored that she will be introducing the band at the concert,” says a rep for the event. “Her support will make a huge difference.”

The concert will raise money and awareness for lung cancer research.

Rock star Dave Matthews’s infant son, August, is getting an early lesson in environmental protection: He wears reusable cloth diapers rather than the disposable kind.

“We use cloth diapers for our new baby because I think diapers might be the No. 3 piece of garbage [in terms of environmental damage],” Matthews said at a Live Earth press conference on Saturday. “So, if you have a little cloth diaper service nearby, that’s good.”

Musician Dave Matthews and his wife Ashley Harper, a doctor, are expecting their third child in June, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple married in August 2000 and are already parents to 5-year-old fraternal twin girls Grace Anne and Stella Busina.

Matthews, 40, acted in the 2005 children’s movie Because of Winn-Dixie. “I have twin 3-year-old daughters, so the idea of doing a film that they might find interesting is cool,” he told PEOPLE at the time.
