Eric Mabius Suffers Insomnia for Good Reason

Ugly Betty star and new dad Eric Mabius is getting less beauty sleep than usual these days.

“We take turns sleeping,” the actor, 37, with wife Ivy Sherman, told PEOPLE at Sunday’s Broadway opening of the London import God of Carnage, starring James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden. “Some nights we get sleep, most nights we don’t.”

Mabius and Sherman have two sons, 2½-year-old Maxfield Elliot and Rylan Jaxson, who is 3 months old.

New dad Eric Mabius says the cast, many of whom have recently had or are expecting babies, all share advice about parenthood. They especially look to Vanessa Williams, who is like a den mother to the cast, for guidance.

“She has kids of many different ages,” says Mabius, who stepped out with his wife for the DKNYMen fragrance launch at the penthouse of the Rivington Hotel on Wednesday. “It’s nice to look up to a person who can balance family and career.”

Ugly Betty’s Eric Mabius and his wife, interior designer Ivy Sherman, have welcomed a second son, named Rylan Jaxson Mabius, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The baby was born Sunday in New York City and weighed a little more than 10 lbs., a source confirms to PEOPLE.

Mabius and Sherman are also parents to Maxfield Elliot, 2.

“My wife, [interior designer Ivy Sherman], wants a French name, but I don t know. Ugly Betty’s Eric Mabius and his wife Ivy Sherman are expecting their second child, the Associated Press reports.

Mabius, 37, says he got the good news while filming his popular ABC show after his interior designer wife surprised him on set.

“We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet,” the actor told the AP.

The couple already have a 1-year-old son, Maxfield Elliott.
