Jerry Lee Lewis Bandmate B.B. Cunningham Jr. Shot Dead

Keyboardist and singer B.B. Cunningham Jr., a longtime member of Jerry Lee Lewis’s band, was found dead after a shootout in Memphis early Sunday, say police.

Cunningham, 70, had been working as a security guard when he went to investigate a gunshot at an apartment complex building, reports Memphis’s Commercial Appeal. Also found dead was an unidentified 16-year-old boy, says the newspaper.

The rock ‘n’ roll legend, 76, tied the knot for the seventh time earlier this month, to a woman named Judith Brown, his rep tells CNN.

Brown is the ex-wife of Lewis’s second cousin Rusty Brown, whose sister, Myra Gale Brown, was Lewis’s third wife. Their wedding in 1957 – Myra was just 13 at the time – caused a scandal that helped derail Lewis’s then high-flying career.

CAST: Closer Golden Globe nominee Natalie Portman is in final discussions to star in a new film by producer Joel Silver and Matrix filmmakers the Wachowski brothers, “V Is for Vendetta,” based on Alan Moore’s graphic WWII novel, says the Hollywood Reporter. The Wachowskis will produce and write the script, which will be directed by their longtime first assistant director James McTeigue.

Jerry Lee Lewis Out of Doghouse

Nesbit, Miss., officials have decided to drop a charge that rocker Jerry Lee Lewis violated the county’s dog leash law, reports the Associated Press. Mildred Yancey, one of the Lewises’s neighbors, filed two complaints in November against Lewis and his wife Kerrie. Yancey complained that the couple’s dogs were running loose in the neighborhood and causing damage to her shrubbery. DeSoto County prosecutor David Adams said the complaint against Lewis will be dropped because there was no proof the dogs belonged to him.
