John Kerry Breaks His Leg During Bicycle Accident in France

Secretary of State John Kerry has broken his leg while cycling in the Alps on Sunday.

Kerry’s spokesperson confirmed the incident in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, saying that the accident occurred while he was cycling near Scionzier, France. Paramedics and physicians were on the scene with Kerry’s motorcade at the time of the accident.

“The Secretary was transported via medical helicopter to Hospital University Geneva, where he is currently being evaluated,” the statement reads.
