The Dancing with the Stars season 16 contestants and their pro partners were announced at a live event Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. And when the dust settled, fans may have been left wondering why Maksim Chmerkovskiy wasn’t among the pairs.

The outspoken pro, who has competed in 13 of the past 15 season but never won, released a statement about sitting out the current competition, which begins March 18.

Getting eliminated on Tuesday night’s Dancing with the Stars during this particular week was all too familiar for Sabrina Bryan.

The former Cheetah Girl, 28, was sent home this same week when she competed during season 5 with Mark Ballas. The current dismissal came on the heels of scoring a perfect 30 for her routine the previous night.

Fresh off the show’s 200th episode, So You Think You Can Dance’s season 9 had its first live show on Wednesday.

After a workplace-set group number by the top 20, judge Mary Murphy handed out a ticket on the “hot tamale train” to ballroom dancer Witney Carson, 18. But her ballet-dancer partner Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, 23, did not fare as well.
