The 44-year-old actor, who’s up for his first Grammy next month in the best traditional R&B performance category for his work on “Jesus Children,” told Billboard that it’s been “painful to watch my friend and mentor go through this.”

The 44-year-old actor, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, made a surprise appearance Wednesday on American Horror Story.

His scene was brief – he showed up at the beginning of the episode, sporting a smart fedora and a big grin. But by the look and sound of things, he is likely to make a comeback. He’s introduced as a possible old lover of Desiree Dupree (Angela Bassett).
