Parker Posey Diagnosed with Lyme Disease

Parker Posey is known for her feisty screen roles, but she has recently been knocked down by an illness.

A statement released Wednesday by Playwrights Horizons said that Posey would not be able to perform in the new stage production of This “due to developing a case of Lyme disease.”

The actress, who has starred in movies such as Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman and Dazed and Confused, was set to play the lead in the production, which starts previews Nov. 6.

Jamie Foxx Piles Up More Awards for Ray

WON: Ray took four NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, including those for outstanding motion picture and best actor Jamie Foxx, who also won the Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles. “This has been an absolute wonderful ride,” said Foxx, presented his award by screen legends Sidney Poitier and Diahann Carroll. Hosted by Chris Tucker, this year’s ceremony will air Friday on FOX.

Parker Posey Screams Again

Independent movie queen Parker Posey is in final negotiations to join director Wes Craven and the cast of Miramax’s eagerly-awaited “Scream 3,” reports Variety. Posey will join Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell in the third installment of the horror franchise. She is the only member to be cast who was not a part of the original ensemble.
