In a solemn, reflective end to their tour of Germany, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited the site of one of the most notorious Nazi death camps Friday.

The Queen, 89, laid a wreath at the memorial to the tens of thousands of victims, including teenage diarist Anne Frank, who died in the Holocaust at the Belsen-Bergen camp.

Queen Elizabeth will make her first visit to one of Hitler’s death camps when she and her husband, Prince Philip, undertake a tour of Germany in a few weeks.

On June 26, Elizabeth, 89, and Philip, 93, will be visiting Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where 70,000 people were murdered by the Nazis between 1941 and 1945. Teenage diarist Anne Frank and her sister Margot are among the thousands buried there.
