As Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter Chelsea leaves the star’s home to move in with her biological mother, a source tells PEOPLE the teen had been wanting to move out for a while.
“Chelsea made a decision when she turned 18 that she wanted to go to her birth mother,” the source says. “This was her choice.”
Chelsea turned 18 Monday, and a rep for O’Donnell confirmed to PEOPLE on Wednesday that she chose to relocate to Wisconsin and live with her birth mom Deanna Micoley. The comedian adopted Chelsea in 1997.
