Ted Turner Hospitalized After Suffering from Appendicitis

Ted Turner is in recovery.

The CNN and Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) founder, 75, reportedly underwent surgery Friday morning due to appendicitis and is currently recovering in a Buenos Aires hospital, according to ET Canada.

Turner’s rep Phillip Evans confirms to CNN he is hospitalized and under current observation, but refused to provide any additional information on his current state.

That ultimate power couple, Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda and media mogul Ted Turner, announced Tuesday that they are separating after eight years of marriage. “While we continue to be committed to the long-term success of our marriage,” they said in a statement, “we find ourselves at a juncture where we must each take some personal time for ourselves.” The marriage was the third for both Fonda, 62, and Turner, 61.

Fonda Files for Divorce

Jane Fonda, 63, filed for divorce from CNN founder Ted Turner, 62, on Monday in Fulton County (Ga.) Superior Court, reports the Associated Press. (Turner is vice chairman of AOL Time Warner, which owns PEOPLE.) The former actress’ petition says that the marriage is “irretrievably broken” and there is “no hope of reconciliation,” said to be standard language under Georgia’s divorce laws. The division of assets have already been agreed upon, the documents say. Her lawyer called the entire matter “confidential.”
