Teri Polo Files for Bankruptcy

Teri Polo has filed for bankruptcy.

The Fosters star’s Chapter 11 filing shows that she is nearly a million dollars in debt, with the bulk of that owed to the IRS along with some credit card debt, PEOPLE confirms.

The actress, 44, owes nearly $772,000 in income tax and almost $37,000 in credit card debt, according to her petition filed on April 14 with a Los Angeles court. She claims to have less than $50,000 in assets.

Polo, who can currently be seen in ABC’s new series Man Up, had just adopted two Chihuahuas a few weeks ago, but has since rescued another Chihuahua puppy and three kittens.

Daughter Bayley was born at 3:02 p.m. in Los Angeles and weighed 7 lbs., a rep for the actress says.

This was the first child for Polo, 38, and Wollam together. They also each have a son from previous marriages: Polo has Griffin, 5, and Wollam has Carter, 9.
