“Tina hasn t had any contact with Ike in more than 30 years. No further comment will be made.”

Ike Turner Dead at 76

Ike Turner, the legendary musician and former husband of Tina Turner, has died at 76.

“He did pass away this morning” at his home near San Diego, said Scott M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner’s career, according to the Associated Press.

Oprah Winfrey, Queen Latifah and Beyonce rocked politicos with their tribute to Tina Turner on Sunday, as entertainment superseded politics in Washington to make room for this year’s Kennedy Center honorees.

Besides Turner, those honored included actors Robert Redford and Julie Harris, singer Tony Bennett and ballerina and teacher Suzanne Farrell.

Tina Turner plans to kick off her next world tour with a rendition of “Proud Mary” during the Super Bowl pre-game festivities. She’ll also do a new cut, “When the Heartache Is Over,” at the Jan. 30 event. “I can’t go to America without performing ‘Proud Mary,’ ” Turner, who lives in the South of France, told Hitmakers, a weekly radio industry magazine. “It’s an affair with the fans, and I think it’s good for those two songs to be played there, so I’m happy about it.
