Prince William has vowed to immerse Prince George in the delights of diving and water sports.

Speaking as he follows in a royal family tradition of heading up the British sub-aqua enthusiasts’ association, William, 31, said he hopes his son will one day take up his love of the water.

William represents the third generation of his family, behind his father Prince Charles and grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh, to become president of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC). Marking his new role by writing a foreword for SCUBA, the organization s magazine, he says he shares the “passion for the sport and the underwater world.

“I hope that one day my son, George, will also experience the wonders that snorkeling and scuba diving have to offer,” says the prince.

William has been diving around the world – he’s visited Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean twice (including once for a study break), and likely donned his scuba gear when he headed to the Maldives with wife Kate in March.
