Any list of best getups isn’t complete without the one that solidified her as an international style star: her stunning Alexander McQueen wedding gown, with its perfect fit, hand-embroidered lace and outstanding details.
For her official visit to North America, the Duchess celebrated Canada Day in Ottawa on July 1 in the country’s colors: a white Reiss dress, Queen Elizabeth’s maple leaf brooch and a bright red hat by Sylvia Fletcher, also featuring maple leaves.
Looking appropriately regal in another Alexander McQueen – this one, a pleated lavender gown – and borrowed earrings from the Queen, Kate met Hollywood’s finest at the July 9 BAFTA Brits to Watch gala in Los Angeles.
Perhaps Kate’s trip to Tinseltown inspired her taste for this draped, belted Jenny Packham gown with an Old Hollywood vibe, worn to a London charity benefit in November. ( wore the same style in orange earlier that year!)
Though the Duchess rarely goes strapless, preferring to show off her legs instead of her décolletage, she chose a sweetheart-neckline black velvet Alexander McQueen gown, accented by jewels she’d received as a wedding gift, for London’s Sun Military Awards in December.
