A chubby dog left outside in single-digit temperatures overnight in Wisconsin may have his blubber to thank for his life. The 120-pound border collie mix named Jiffy was found by authorities frozen to the sidewalk near his Sheboygan home after his owner left him outside - how cruel! The owner has been arrested and Jiffy seems to be doing fine so far. Authorities believe that the dog's extra pounds kept him alive in the chilling temperatures.

In order to release the elderly dog from the cold cement, shelter workers poured warm water over his body. Jiffy is now being cared for by the Humane Society and is expected to survive, though it is not clear whether there will be any long-term effects, shelter manager Carey Payne told the Green Bay Press Gazette. We're pulling for you Jiffy!
