Tight Squeeze! Hunting Dog Rescued from Pipe

There must be something in the water: last week a cat in Boston survived being stuck in a drainage pipe, and this week a dog was rescued after spending four days in a pipe 12 inches wide. Elvis, a black-and-tan coonhound, crawled nearly 800 feet into a drainage pipe when he was out hunting with his owner and another dog named Annie in Sandusky, Ohio. Annie squeezed into the pipe too, but was able to back her way out. No such luck for Elvis. Stuck in the pipe with sewer water up to his neck, it took rescuers a while to locate him. But with the help of a nifty sewer cam (which shot the picture above, inset) the crew got him out and rushed him right to a vet, who declared him healthy -- and very lucky.
