Trend Alert! Parrots On Leashes Popping Up in New York

RJ Mickelson/AMNY
Before New York turned into an icicle because of freezing temperatures, plenty of parrot lovers had been seen taking their pets for a stroll using a leash. According to newspaper AM New York, one local pet store manager has seen more than 100 bird leashes fly off shelves. "The leashes are good to get the bird out to get the natural sunlight they need," Dr. Katherine Quesenberry, an avian veterinarian, told the paper. But before you strap a leash on your feathery friend, keep in mind that not all parrots will be wild about the idea. "It took me several attempts and a few nasty bites to get Tito in his harness," said pet store manager Dominic Costa of his scarlet macaw.
