Vilja the Elephant Turns 60!

What could be better than a birthday cake made of bread, carrots, bananas and beets? For humans, a lot of things, but for Vilja the elephant this is about as tasty as it gets! Vilja's cake was prepared to be soft so that the nearly toothless elephant could enjoy every bite. At 60-years-old, Vilja is the oldest elephant in Europe, according to the Wilhelma Zoo in Stuttgart, Germany, where she lives. Elephants in captivity typically live around 56 years.
