What's Your Pet Thinking? Denise Zak Says She Can Tell You
"I've learned people jump the gun on euthanizing because they fear the animal is in pain," Zak says. The animals tend to say, "'just let me live until I die,'" she reports. "They're teaching us how to be more graceful."
Zak says channeling animals isn't always easy, because some refuse to cooperate. If that happens, she doesn't charge her usual fees ($150 an hour for a phone visit, $200, plus travel in person.) Zak says many of the animals often want to give their owners personal advice or tell their side of the story. "Animal will almost always jump in and say 'that's not what happened,'" she says.
One or her favorite consultations was with a horse, who was inexplicably not eating after surgery. The owner asked if the horse would start eating and survive. The horse told Zak: "I can't tell you that, but I can tell you that wherever I am in the universe I will be there from your heart." The morning after the communication, the horse just started eating.
