Pretty in Pink: Albino Dolphin Spotted in Louisiana

Caters News/Zuma
Lots of people did a double take when this image of a pink dolphin surfaced this week. Was it a hoax? No, it's for real! The bright pink Bottlenose dolphin was discovered in the shipping channel between Calcasieu Lake and Lake Charles, in southwestern Louisiana. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says that the albino dolphin has been hanging around since it was seen as a calf in June, 2007, mainly in the shipping channel, but also near "Monkey Island" closer to the Gulf of Mexico. Charter boat captain Erik Rue says he's seen the pink dolphin, which has red eyes, 40 to 50 times. The idea of a pink dolphin in the United States has so perplexed people that Snopes.com, a myth-busting Web site, had to put the word out that it's really true.
