Carrie Underwood's star has risen quickly since her
American Idol win in 2005. And now, the Grammy-winning singer is using her fame for a great cause:
Helping animals in need! At the end of each
Idol elimination episode, as an ousted contestant is saying their farewells, Underwood's song "Home Sweet Home" (a cover of the Motley Crue ballad) will play in the background. The sweet song is available for
download on iTunes, and for every purchase, a percentage of proceeds will go to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Underwood, a champion of the organization, released a statement this week, saying, "I've always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for
Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes. So, we felt it was important to tie the release into an amazing animal charity like The HSUS."
Tune into
Idol on Fox at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, and be sure to download Underwood's single! The singer will also appear live on the March 18th episode of the show.
