Kitten Rescue Auctions Purr-ty Art for a Cause
In July, G4 sponsored an art competition, asking amateurs and pros alike to come up with their best masterpiece based on Fatso and his song. After selecting 18 winners, the network turned the works over to Kitten Rescue, who's auctioning them on eBay this month to raise money for their animal rescue efforts. Ranging from New Yorker-inspired covers to Warhol-esque shots, the works of art are definitely unique – and adorable!
Interested collectors can visit Kitten Rescue's http://kittenrescue.org/pages.php?pageid=93" "site"] to learn more and bid on the pieces, which will be available through September 19.
Kitten Rescue is Los Angeles's largest no-kill, non-profit rescue group. Since opening in 1997, the organization has saved and placed more than 10,000 cats into loving homes. In 2005, the group acquired the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary, a private shelter and boarding facility that houses up to 150 cats. Though some felines do live at the Sanctuary, most stay in foster homes until they are adopted. Kitten Rescue is managed entirely by volunteers and is funded almost purely by donations and adoption fees – so they need your help!
Readers in the Los Angeles area can also show support by attending the group's second annual "Fur Ball," hosted by Office star (and former Kitten Rescue volunteer!) Jenna Fischer, taking place on Saturday, December 5.
