If cheetahs could enter the Olympics, the Cincinnati Zoo's prized cat Sarah would be stocking up on gold medals! The 8-year-old earned a spot in the record books last week when she ran 100 meters in 6.13 seconds, more rapidly than any land mammal – human or animal – on earth. Compared to athlete Usain Bolt's current record of 9.58 seconds, that is one speedy sprint!
"I think it's fair to say that this is the all-time great day in cheetah racing," said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard. "It's fun to see her race so fast."
