Cincinnati Cheetah Is World's Fastest – Beating Animal and Man!

If cheetahs could enter the Olympics, the Cincinnati Zoo's prized cat Sarah would be stocking up on gold medals! The 8-year-old earned a spot in the record books last week when she ran 100 meters in 6.13 seconds, more rapidly than any land mammal – human or animal – on earth. Compared to athlete Usain Bolt's current record of 9.58 seconds, that is one speedy sprint!

"I think it's fair to say that this is the all-time great day in cheetah racing," said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard. "It's fun to see her race so fast." Sarah's official run took place at the Zoo's Regional Cheetah Breeding Facility, where the endangered animals are conserved and studied. Check out this video to see Sarah's rapid race
