What kind of animal would you give the fastest man in the world? None other than the fastest animal on land – the cheetah. Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, after breaking world records in the 100m and 200m races and winning three gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, has adopted a 3-month-old cheetah cub named Lightning Bolt.

The Associated Press reports that the sprinter, as a way to bring attention to Kenyan conservation efforts of its wildlife, formally adopted the cheetah cub, paying $13,700, which will go to the Kenya Wildlife Service. Bolt will not live with Lightning or care for the cub himself, instead paying $3,000 annually to the Nairobi Animal Orphanage to care for the cheetah, who was orphaned after being abandoned in a game park.
